The Issue

In our community of The Villages of Prairie Center, homeowners are pleading for the freedom to replace obsolete split rail fencing with more effective privacy fencing. The need for this change is primarily driven by safety and quality of life for our family, children and pets.

With the escalating rise in crime, drugs and homelessness, the security of households are at stake. It is worth noting that privacy fences mitigate these risks by offering a solid barrier against intrusion or observation. Animal safety is also a significant issue; free access through split rail fences exposes our pets and domestic animals to multifold risks from unregulated open spaces.

The invasion of weeds into our personal yards from unkempt open spaces is another concern. While it may seem trivial, this inadvertent spread can substantially impair our efforts towards maintaining our yards. Introduction of a solid privacy fence will help slow the spread of such weeds.

Lastly, there is the issue of road noise - an environmental stressor that has adverse effects on health and general well-being. The growth of our town and amplified activity in nearby areas such as the Prairie Center Shopping have escalated this noise pollution. Privacy fences have been shown to provide a hindrance to equalize the impact of road noise, promoting a serene, peaceful living condition.

For a safer, quieter, and groomed community, I implore you to consider this petition for allowing homeowners the discretion to replace split rail fences with privacy fences. Let's uphold our right to secure and preserve our homes, health, and environment. Please sign this petition.
