HB 187 criminalizes the photographing or recording of any agricultural operations within the state of Utah. This is blatant corporate favoritism which comes at the expense of our freedom of the press, our ability to expose harmful business practices, and our right to know where our food comes from.
With this bill in place, it would become nigh impossible to expose animal abuses, or dangerous food production standards within the agricultural industry.
This bill is not aimed at protecting businesses which have nothing to hide, but instead would only protect those which do.

We urge Utah lawmakers to reject this bill, and should it come to a vote, to vote against this bill. It is un-American, against free-market principles, and attacks our basic freedoms.
