Please refer to the email thread below addressed to the Office of the Chief of Staff. We are still waiting for a reply to our inquiry. ORIGINAL RESEARCH ARTICLE Front. Microbiol., 23 May 2016 http://dx.doi.org/10.3389/fmicb.2016.00743 A Drug Combination Screen Identifies Drugs Active against Amoxicillin-Induced Round Bodies of In Vitro Borrelia burgdorferi Persisters from an FDA Drug Library Jie Feng, Wanliang Shi, Shuo Zhang, David Sullivan, Paul G. Auwaerter and Ying Zhang Excerpt from the Frontiers in Microbiology article: “Under experimental stress conditions such as starvation or antibiotic exposure, Borrelia burgdorferi can develop round body forms, which are a type of persister bacteria that appear resistant in vitro to customary first-line antibiotics for Lyme disease.” 2. Standard antibiotic treatment for Lyme disease does not kill persistent Borrelia bacteria. http://droopyyoupi.blogspot.com/2015/08/standart-antibiotic-treatment-for-lyme.html -What has tuberculosis and Borrelia burgdorferi in common? In the late stage of the disease occurs persistent (tolerant) bacteria, which essentially means that the bacteria lasts and lasts and lasts. They protect themselves against antibiotics and are difficult to treat. - Both Borrelia burgdorferi and tuberculosis is relatively easy to cure in the early stages, even with the use of one antibiotic. In the late stage it is impossible to cure the disease with the same type of treatment in the acute phase, said Dr. Ying Zhang when he visited the year NorVect conference. -Dr. Ying Zhang is a professor at the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health _______________________ Per the following 1992 Klempner study, it would appear that the antibiotic resistance/tolerance of Borrelia burgdorferi was previously identified: 3. J Infect Dis. 1992 Aug;166(2):440-4. Fibroblasts protect the Lyme disease spirochete, Borrelia burgdorferi, from ceftriaxone in vitro. Georgilis K1, Peacocke M, Klempner MS. Author information 1Department of Medicine, New England Medical Center, Boston, Massachusetts. Abstract The Lyme disease spirochete, Borrelia burgdorferi, can be recovered long after initial infection, even from antibiotic-treated patients, indicating that it resists eradication by host defense mechanisms and antibiotics. Since B. burgdorferi first infects skin, the possible protective effect of skin fibroblasts from an antibiotic commonly used to treat Lyme disease, ceftriaxone, was examined. Human foreskin fibroblasts protected B. burgdorferi from the lethal action of a 2-day exposure to ceftriaxone at 1 microgram/mL, 10-20 x MBC. In the absence of fibroblasts, organisms did not survive. Spirochetes were not protected from ceftriaxone by glutaraldehyde-fixed fibroblasts or fibroblast lysate, suggesting that a living cell was required. The ability of the organism to survive in the presence of fibroblasts was not related to its infectivity. Fibroblasts protected B. burgdorferi for at least 14 days of exposure to ceftriaxone. Mouse keratinocytes, HEp-2 cells, and Vero cells but not Caco-2 cells showed the same protective effect. Thus, several eukaryotic cell types provide the Lyme disease spirochete with a protective environment contributing to its long-term survival. _______________________ Two decades have passed since Klempner’s announcement yet the CDC has refused to acknowledge persistent Lyme infection. The focus over this time has been to discredit those who are disabled by the disease as apposed to finding a cure. Those who have controlled the Lyme disease narrative for the past thirty years have caused untold pain and suffering worldwide as it appears that "Post Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome" is simply a fabricated medical condition disguising treatment failure. Borreilia with its life-altering/life-threatening outcomes [1] belongs in the same health threat category as all the other antibiotic resistant superbugs. Question for the CDC: When will the CDC recognize that we have an urgent need to develop an antimicrobial that successfully eliminates the Lyme disease spirochete along with its persisters? (Please do not send the standard CDC cookie-cutter response) Respectfully Submitted, Carl Tuttle Hudson, NH Cc: The legislative staff of New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen REFERENCES ________________________________________ [1] Lyme is not your average “Nuisance Disease” https://www.change.org/p/the-us-senate-calling-for-a-congressional-investigation-of-the-cdc-idsa-and-aldf/u/11340872 2nd letter to the CDC: ________________________________________ From: "Carl Tuttle" To: "CDCExecSec" , "coh2" Cc: "Cara Osborn" , "Peter Clark" , "eric waskowicz" Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2016 8:59:20 AM Subject: Re: Newly published study from Johns Hopkins (SECOND REQUEST) Second Request To the Office of the Chief of Staff: Please answer the question from the email below dated June 24, 2016 To the legislative staff members of New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen: The following seven minute video mirrors what we described in our meeting on May 19, 2016 in the Manchester NH office of Senator Shaheen.
