Stop animal research at the University of Glasgow

Stop animal research at the University of Glasgow
The Issue
The University of Glasgow has pledged to use alternatives to animal research whenever possible and to reduce the amount of animals used in research. Instead, the university has doubled the amount of animals used in research since 2006 and has pledged £5 million to a new animal holding facility.
We urge the university to stop all animal research as it causes unnecessary pain and suffering to the animals. Medical research on non-human animals does not give accurate information about humans.
We urge the university to focus on using alternative methods for research instead of animals. Alternatives to animal research include cell cultures, tissue and organ cultures, chemical methods, computer models, and human volunteers.
A short guide to animal testing can be found at BUAV, and information on alternative methods can be found on the Dr Hadwen Trust website.
