The University of Colorado-Boulder has a building called the Village Dining Center. The first floor of this building has a very large multipurpose space; basically one large room that can be divided into smaller rooms. This area of the building is completely separate from the main area of the building that students use. There are several separate entrances and separate bathrooms.

This area has been used in prior years for conferences and other large gatherings. Due to COVID, this space is empty, unused, and will likely remain that way for the foreseeable future.

However, Boulder has a large houseless population that need a warm safe place to sleep and stay during winter. Many houseless shelters turn people away and the result can be an easily avoidable death. This space is a perfect solution for CU Boulder to do their part in helping the community. Houseless people have every right to take up free space in harsh winter conditions and CU Boulder has the ability to make this a reality, with ease.
