We are demanding for all fraternity and sorority houses to be reopened immediately on the campus of the University of Alabama, with social distancing guidelines implemented. The University has announced that the 14-day moratorium on all in-person events outside of the classroom has been extended through September 13. The moratorium only allows residents, advisors, and staff to enter a Greek house and states that escalated consequences for disobeying these guidelines are being imposed. It is wrong and unfair that active, paying members of Greek organizations are being blocked from entering their houses, and we demand this to be changed immediately. All members of Greek life should be allowed to enter their house as long as they are maintaining social distance, wearing a face covering, and self-quarantining if exposure occurs.
