Divest from and Disavow the Women Beater In Our Community

Divest from and Disavow the Women Beater In Our Community
The Issue
We the friends and family of Sheriese Nicole agree that Mr. Rick Mathis's behavior toward Sheriese Nicole and Judah warrants:
- A communal agreement among the community and its institutions to not do business with him
- An immediate if not permanent unwelcoming to community gatherings and territory
- An immediate boycott of his constituents who continue to support and do business with him in spite of knowing his indiscretions
- A permanent removal of the opportunity for him to further assault, intimidate, or hostilely engage any woman in our communal auspices
Please read and sign this petition not only with your fingers but also with your decisive mind to ally with us in this honorable endeavor.
Just days ago, one of our family members, the beloved edutainer Sheriese Nicole, was attacked and mercilessly beaten unconscious by her former mate, documentary director Rick Mathis. After more than a year of subjecting her and her infant son, Judah, to verbal and emotional abuse with impunity, Mathis embodied no fear or conscience of taking his abuse to the next level.
Sheriese suffered his savagely brutal assault inside of a parked vehicle with no escape as he repeatedly punched her in the face, head, and ribs. She regained consciousness inside her home with no recollection of how she got from the car to inside the house, where this weak 'p-word a-word n-word' attempted to mate with her after having beat her up.
In the aftermath of the attack with the support of her immediate family, Sheriese has ousted Mathis from her home and life. Understandably she has endured trauma, pain, damaged confidence, embarrassment and uncertainty on her road to self recovery. She garnered the courage to report the attack to the authorities, file an order of protection, and green-light this petition.
Meanwhile, Mathis having found himself homeless made unrequited attempts to reconcile and when that didn't work he sabotaged an event that Sheriese was producing with his assistance. Thus he has transitioned to financially abusing this loving mother and an negatively impacting her means of taking care of her children.
This repeated assault of our sister can not continue and Mathis's behavior can no longer go unchecked by our community. All of our philosophical differences aside, we all share a commonality when it comes to the Queens, our sisters, mothers, daughters, and mates. Men beating on women is intolerable!
We ask our endeared Atlanta community and media constituents to show your support for not only Sheriese Nicole but also for the many Queens in our midst who have and still are suffering physical abuse specifically and other forms of abuse in general as meted out by respected supposed kings. Its our desire and objective to hold Mathis accountable not only in the legal system but more importantly within our community. And to do so in a clear, civilized and productive manner. One that benefits the whole body in ways that summary or street justice may undermine. Let us set a precedent for how we collectively respond when we witness/experience/knowledge such an emotionally agitating tragedy.
