Since the first Klan was founded in Pulaski, Tennessee, sometime between December 1865 and August 1866 by six former members of the Confederate army, they have killed, tortured, attacked, bullied, and terrorized many people of color (especially Black Americans) and those who have supported equality, all in the name of White Supremacy. The KKK have called themselves a Christian organization but are as close to the true Christian ideology as ISIS is to Islam. For literal centuries, the KKK have been an integral part of the history of The United States of America. So much so, that we studied them in school during history classes as a group who have incited much terror in black communities post-Civil War. It is all but a universal agreement among American citizens that the KKK is a racist and terrorist organization, birthed by America's racists past. But today should be the day we at least begin the real conversation, and necessary actions, to give the Ku Klux Klan the title they have spent over a century striving to earn, "Terrorist Organization Designated by the Government of The United States of America".
