Reinstate GLASS-STEAGALL

The Issue

The Banking Act of 1933 (aka: "Glass/Steagall") effectively separated risky speculative investment banking from more traditional, FDIC protected functions such as issuing mortgages and small business loans. The repeal of this law in 1999 led directly to the toxic mortgage-fueled meltdown of 2008... the root cause of our current economic situation. Tell Congress to rebuild the protective wall between investment banks and mortgage banks!
