Make the Bass Pro Shop Pyramid a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Why this petition matters
The Bass Pro Shops Pyramid in Memphis TN should be considered in becoming a World Heritage Site. As defined by the United Nations Educational Scientific, and Cultural Organization, a world heritage site must meet one of 10 criteria. I believe that the Bass Pro Pyramid meets at least three of these criteria.
3: to bear a unique or at least exceptional testimony to a cultural tradition or to a civilization which is living or which has disappeared;
Bass Pro Shop has strong ties to bass fishing which is a culturally significant tradition all over the united states but especially in the southern parts of the US
4: To be an outstanding example of a type of building, architectural or technological ensemble or landscape which illustrates (a) significant stage(s) in human history;
The Bass Pro Pyramid exemplifies a modern take on ancient architecture. The Pyramid is one of the iconic structures made all over the world by many ancient humans but none more iconic than the Egyptians. This pyramid serves as an outstanding example of the pyramid and for many is significant in recent human history.
5: To be an outstanding example of a traditional human settlement, land-use, or sea-use which is representative of a culture (or cultures), or human interaction with the environment especially when it has become vulnerable under the impact of irreversible change;
Bass pro shops have strong ties to the bass fishing community and strong cultural ties to many Americans all over the Country. Bass fishing by some is almost seen as a religion, but by many more a way of life, a way to provide sustenance to their families and a way to spend time with close friends or relatives on a weekend morning.
