Emoji are a large part of our culture today whether you like it or not. There are many reasons to dislike them: cultural oversaturation, over-commercialization, and as to be addressed here: they're an eyesore. Take a look at this list and you'll see it's not just on over platform either, it's on all of them.

If something seems odd about Google's Emojis, it's because they changed their Emoji style in order to resemble the emoji on other platforms. This however is the opposite of how it should have gone, as their old nonstandard design stuck out at the one that looked good. The style lives on in a heavily redacted form as Gboard stickers, but that doesn't do much good as they're in a butchered animated form.

What I propose to be changed is The Unicode Consortium's standard design for emoji, either to the now defunct Blob Emoji or some improved form of the current designs that the graphical designers of the companies which finalize the designs cannot botch. The blobs would be easier of course as they're already made, highly communicative, and generally accepted to look quite nice with their avoidance of the uncanny valley, with their only problem being the differences between them and the other emoji styles. Other companies would terrain the freedom to stylize the shapes add they want, but the current hideous designs would be done away with.
