The UK Online Safety Act has horrible consequences and this is why it should be revoked
The Issue
The Online Safety Act was started in the UK to try and prevent under 18s from accessing NSFW content. NSFW as you may be familiar with, is the category that harmful content such as porn falls under. Unfortunately however, suicide, alcoholism and many other similar topics do also fall under this NSFW category. And one thing these topics share is that there are communities provided for under 18s to gain support in these topics, as an unfortunately large amount of minors in the UK do suffer from such issues. Since the Online Safety Act has been brought into place, the needs of many under 18s in the country can no longer be fulfilled. As of recently, a petition was made which gained a lot of awareness from the public, however this petition was turned down by the government. So I am making this to hopefully gain a lot more widespread attention and an explanation as to why the UK Government are now endangering the livelihood of many modern day children. However I cannot end this here, as there is one more significant detail in this act which has now led to a LAWSUIT from Apple and Wikipedia and potentially more may be upon the horizon. As part of the Online Safety Act, the UK Government has requested that companies supply information about every UK citizen in their database. Not only is this a breach of privacy, but it also could lead to many more issues. That is all for now, so if you live in the UK, don't want your information breached just for access to help resources, or just want children to be able to get the help they need from currently sealed communities, then we urge you to sign this petition to grasp the attention of those in parliament.
