Hello, we would like to tell you some facts about the shark fin trade, and get you to sign our petition.

   You might be wondering: "What is shark finning?" Shark finning is the removal of the shark's fins and then discarding the rest of the body. It is extremely wasteful and very inhumane. Instead of wasting the body, we think they could stop.

    We have researched and have found that around 188 restaurants in America serve shark fin soup. We have also found that 60% of the states in the U.S. serve shark fin soup. Would you believe that over 100,000,000 sharks are finned per year? That's about 11,417 sharks being finned per HOUR. Scientists say that in about a decade, sharks will be completely extinct because of shark finning. This could cause sea life to collapse.

     We want to pass a law in the United States that bans the trading of shark fins and end this slaughter of a living creature and we need you to help us. We need you to recognize this disastrous problem and hope that you will help us make a difference in our community.
