Provide adequate fire protection/ procedure for basement performance area

The Issue

On February 4, 2013, The Triple Crown Ale House experienced a small electrical fire but did not notify the approximately 25 patrons in the basement performance space of this issue.

Employees actually notified upstairs customers that the fire was no issue at all, even though the fire was a struggle to control. No protocol was established to protect the customers.

Upon further inspection, a door clearly marked as an Exit in the basement performance area was found to be locked, in clear safety violation.

No one was injured on the night of February 4, 2013. However, the manner in which the fire was handled could have easily caused harm had the fire escalated.
