The Township of Chatsworth is holding a public meeting Wednesday, July 28 at 7pm under the pavilion at the Desboro Community Centre. This meeting will be discussing the decision to close the Desboro Arena.

This petition is designed to express the communities desire to continue to put ice into the Desboro Area. 

If the Township of Chatsworth does not keep the ice in Desboro it will be detrimental for the community.

It will directly effect the Township of Chatsworth & District Minor Hockey Association, which offers hockey for players 4-17 years of age. TCDMHA promotes exercise, sportsmanship,  rewarding experiences and community involvement. The hockey association already has to travel to other municipalities for regular scheduled ice times. With the loss of Desboro's ice pad it will be even harder to accommodate reasonable ice times for these kids.  

Also, negatively effecting the Grey Bruce Ladies Broomball League,  the Grey Bruce Mens Broomball League, The Master's Ladies Broomball.  The two leagues have 24 teams combined and provides an opportunity for adult sports in the community. Members promote the game for younger generations by organizing, coaching, participating in and sponsoring Provincial and National Broomball Events. Ice in Desboro is used for league play, practices and tournaments. 

The decision will also effect pick up hockey, pick up broomball , family bookings,  and public skating and social events held by The Desboro Lion's Club and the community senior's group.
