The Deer Springs community in Tottenham is subject to train whistles from the nearby CP Rail crossing at 3rd Line during all hours of the day. The young families in this community, many with small children, are subject to daily and overnight train whistles that keep them awake at night. The train comes by on average 10 times a day, with most coming late at night or early in the morning. The noise is so bad for some residents, with many concerned about their ability to get to work safely the next morning on as little as one hour of sleep.

We plead with the New Tecumseth council to make this intersection either an overnight or complete quiet zone. We have to think of the young families and children in this area who need to sleep to be productive members of society and to live a full, healthy life. There are numerous quiet zones in place in other communities on this same CP Rail line, there is no reason we can't have it at this intersection as well. We now have crossing arms, bells, and lights installed, which is the required hardware to make this crossing a quiet zone.
