Greenwich Must Act to Protect the Residents of Porchuck Road!

Greenwich Must Act to Protect the Residents of Porchuck Road!
The Issue
Porchuck Road has become an increasingly dangerous place to live.
Commercial vehicles, Brunswick School expansion, Westchester County Airport, King Street-based corporations, Armonk based companies, all impact Porchuck Road particularity during rush-hour peaks. Porchuck Road is also used as a short-cut/cut-through with navigation apps such as WAZE and Google Maps redirecting vehicles to what was once a quiet country road. As a result, there has been an alarming increase speeding commercial vehicles and large trucks using Porchuck Road as an alternative to the Merritt Parkway. WAZE and Google maps also direct out of state (and frustrated) drivers speeding through to avoid congestion on the Merritt Parkway. Accidents are a common occurrence - and numerous photographic evidence, as well as police reports, confirm this.
The Town of Greenwich must react to protect its residents and preserve the historic character of our backcountry road, that can in no way accommodate this dangerous and unprecedented increase in traffic.
We, the undersigned, residents of Porchuck Road and the surrounding streets request that Greenwich take immediate action by implementing one or all of solutions proposed by the Porchuck Neighborhood Association:
1. Legally designating Porchuck Road as “Local Traffic Only/No Through Traffic”
2. Restricting left turns onto Porchuck Road from Round Hill Road (6am-9am M-F)
3. Restricting left turns onto Porchuck Road from Riversville Road (3pm-6pm M-F)
