SUPPORT CHEVRON/ECHELON PARKING IN TORQUAY

SUPPORT CHEVRON/ECHELON PARKING IN TORQUAY
The Issue
The parking situation is dreadful it Torquay, and inparticular Torwood Street leading to Babbacombe Road. It is affecting businesses adversely and making small businesses like mine terminal or in need of serious life support. It is equally difficult for shoppers, the life blood of any town and if you are disabled forget it as there are no dedicated areas to park in the street.
The solution – echelon (or chevron) parking. There is plenty of room to introduce this form of parking on one side of Torwood Street and then on both sides of the road up to, and beyond the Bowling Alley on the Babbacombe Road. This layout will make it easier for those parking and for the traffic behind too, as they don’t have to wait for someone to reverse into a space. Echelon parking allows for many more cars to park than parallel parking and will enhance traffic flow, encourage more shoppers, and more customers for the growing number of restaurants.
Help us to keep this area of Torquay alive and let it flourish by signing this petition. We need your help or it will die. PLEASE HELP.
