The Buddhist Temple at Bellanvilla, Sri Lanka has been on the spotlight since last January 2020.  A video footage was transmitted by social media and other news media outlets, broadcasting abuse and cruelty that was induced on the young male elephant of the Temple. The elephant named 'Mayan Prince' was a gift from the State of Myanmar in 2013.

Whilst there are at least two other petitions with significant umber of signatures calling out for the release of the elephant to a sanctuary where it can be freed from torture, the temple is obstinate on the stance based on their view, not based on the best interest of the elephant.

Do you agree that this elephant should be removed from the Temple premises and be relocated to an elephant holding grounds or an open wild animal park where it has the freedom to roam free without being chained ?
