Education systems must integrate schools now
The Issue
Schools today are still segregated and we need to fix it. There are many solutions for how we, school systems, and the government can help determine what’s best for schools. This message is directed toward The Superintendent of Public Instruction, we as a community need you to recognize how schools that are segregated and integrated are different. There are many factors on how an integrated school is best and here are some solutions to how to eliminate schools that are segregated.
Some solutions to eliminate schools that are still segregated is to change neighborhoods and school registration boundaries. Doing that will allow any student to enroll and it wouldn’t matter where they lived which is a step further for schools to be more diverse. The second, is to change transportation routes and give access to those who need transportation to get to school because not all students can go to a school that is far from home. If schools have students from different areas then the school is changing in different ways such as having higher average test scores, students are more likely to enroll in college, kids are less likely to drop out, etc.
Segregation is not good for anyone who lives in this world, it makes us sad to be treated differently, and we as people will degrade each other. Schools can help segregation be eliminated by giving access to students who live beyond the district to increase their test scores and have students be successful in college and after. Segregation is very terrible and as a group, we can help deliver a message to the Superintendent of Public Instruction to start recognizing and make a difference.
