Hearing aids can cost several thousand dollars, and while hearing tests are covered by insurance providers, the cost of hearing aids are not. Hearing aids are absolutely vital for many people who struggle to hear without them. Many hearing aid users are unable to speak on the telephone without hearing aids, or unable to participate in meaningful dialogue without them. Unfortunately, the cost of the hearing aid is often the responsibility of the consumer. If a hearing aid breaks and the consumer has insurance but not the immediate funds to pay for a new hearing aid or its repairs, they are stuck, perhaps unable to work and certainly unable to participate in life as they know it. Let's get Washington State to require insurance providers to cover hearing aids!
