Warragamba dam, one of the primary water sources in Sydney has been overflowing since the past few months. The state government wants to raise the dam by 14 metres to prevent the water from flooding the neighboring towns. But if they do raise the wall, then the surrounding wildlife would be harmed. That includes animals like the swift parrot, regent honeyeater, giant burrowing frog and the koala. 

Our suggestion is for the government to create bypass channels, which are channels that lead the water inside the dam towards somewhere else. This lowers the water levels of the dam, meaning that it can store more water. It also means that the endangered wildlife would be preserved. 

If bypass channels are created, then it also preserves the 50 Aboriginal Heritage sites that could be ruined and destroyed because of flooding.
