The political status of the Philippines has been significantly influenced by the presence of political dynasties, which are characterized by families maintaining power across multiple generations. While some may argue that these dynasties provide stability and continuity in governance, their ongoing influence has been identified as a major contributor to corruption in the country. The argument can be made that political dynasties also undermine democratic processes, foster corruption, and hinder socio-economic development. Therefore, it is important that measures must be taken to examine and ultimately reduce the power of these families, especially this upcoming election. 

Political dynasties create an environment that fosters corruption by enabling the concentration of power within a few families only. With members of the same family occupying various government positions, the checks and balances necessary for a well-functioning democracy become altered. This concentration of power leads to situations where the interests of the family often replace those of the public. Decision-making becomes less transparent, and accountability dissipates as familial loyalty replaces loyalty to public service. 

Moreover, when members of the same family have governed for extended periods, the risk of engaging in corrupt practices increases, as they may believe that their position is secure. This phenomenon is observable in many political clans across the Philippines, where corruption scandals have repeatedly surfaced.

How can we prevent the continuous emergence of Political Dynasties in our Country? 

By fostering a culture of transparency and accountability in government operations is essential. Establishing institutions to monitor government contracts and expenditures could mitigate opportunities for corrupt practices.

By encouraging civic engagement and educating citizens to demand accountability and supportive claims that these politicians should provide transparency can create much change. To add up, in this upcoming 2025 the independent institutions should restrain politicians to engage in this activity, as it creates a massive stir up in our government that does not only affect the improvement of our country but also foster the growth of corruption.
