Outlaw the ritual slaughter of animals in the UK without pre-stunning. Pass/push for a new UK/EU law so that all meats produced by ritual slaughter must be clearly labelled as such.
The Issue
Because it's just plain cruel and because people need to be made aware so as to be able to make an informed decision. All the major animal welfare groups in the UK agree about the cruelty of such practices, including the RSPCA (http://www.rspca.org.uk/allaboutanimals/farm/slaughter/factfile). I firmly believe that this is one of the many things that "multiculturalism" has gotten wrong in the UK. Afterall,
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
