Demand clear labelling on free-range eggs

Demand clear labelling on free-range eggs
The Issue
We believe that people should be able to make an informed decision when buying their eggs. Many free-range eggs are now produced in huge multi-tier sheds, housing up to 64,000 hens on multiple levels under one roof, so the term ‘free-range’ has lost all meaning for many of us.
People have a right to know where their food comes from, so with the nation’s appetite for free-range eggs increasing, this campaign aims to give people a better understanding of their free-range egg’s journey from the farmyard to the kitchen.
Our No Multi-Tier Here educational campaign is now calling for clearer labelling on free-range egg boxes, to identify whether they have been produced in flat deck or multi-tier systems.
As consumers, everyone will then be free to choose whether they would prefer to support small independent farms using traditional methods, or buy eggs from producers using much larger multi-tier methods.
Sign our petition to help us bring this issue to the attention of Elizabeth Truss, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. We’re calling for all free-range eggs that are produced in multi-tier sheds to carry the label ‘These eggs were produced in a multi-tier system’.

Our No Multi-Tier Here message is going on the road throughout 2016 and with your support we can bring about the changes required to support small independent farmers and make the poultry industry re-engage with the public.
