SAVE ST. PATRICK'S BEDFORD SCHOOL

The Issue

Established in 1956 by the Sisters of Charity, St. Patrick’s School in Bedford has a long tradition dedicated to the mission to “teach as Jesus did.” The children of St. Patrick routinely achieved some of the highest regional NYS assessment scores. Many of our graduates received scholarships for high school. Our school alumni attend high schools such as Regis, Sacred Heart, Fordham, Holy Child, Iona, Maria Regina, Stepinac, Kennedy Catholic and local public High Schools.

On July 9, 2020, with no previous indication or notice, the children, families, faculty and administrators of St. Patrick's in Bedford were advised by a letter from the Office of the Superintendent of Schools of the Archdiocese of New York that St. Patrick's would not be reopening this September in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

St. Patrick’s is the high achieving, excellently taught and yet nurturing home to over 150 children and young adults, preschool-8th grade. These families are left scrambling during this pandemic crisis. Many schools cannot offer placement given restrictions placed on class sizes to keep students safe and at a physical distance in the fall. Please sign this petition to show how important St. Patrick's School is to this community and to give us a chance to save it!

Our children love their school and their teachers, help us help them!
