THE ROLE OF LAW CLINIC IN THE MANAGEMENT OF PLASTIC POLLUTION

THE ROLE OF LAW CLINIC IN THE MANAGEMENT OF PLASTIC POLLUTION
The Issue
Plastic pollution is everywhere, not just in the oceans!
It is defined as the improper disposal of plastic that accumulate in the environment which negatively affects humans, wildlife and their habitat.
Plastic production has been seen to have caused more harm than good, over the years the improper disposal of these substance unknowingly to the society were slowing affecting the water bodies and agriculture.
Research has proven that these substances do not decompose, hence, making the disposal very difficult. There is an obvious need to minimize our use of plastic in order to effectively reduce plastic pollution. It entails altering our daily habits and not using plastic when there is a better option and only using plastic when absolutely essential.
The Baze University Law Clinic (social justice) has seen this issue as a social problem and has decided to participate in the management of wrongful disposal of plastic and its harmful effect to humans, wildlife and their habitat. The Clinic would be working inline with Sustainable Development Development Goals 14 (Life below water) and 15 (Life on land) as well as induce the Government to introduce more laws that would regulate plastic disposal an example is the Harmful Waste Act.
