June 2, 2025, will remain a day forever etched in my heart. It was the tragic day when my brother, a compassionate, lively spirit, fell victim to an act of senseless gun violence. He was just 14  years old, with dreams unfulfilled and a future unfairly taken away. His loss was not just ours but a community's, as he was a pure soul who inspired young minds, a friend who stood by you in dark times, and a brother who meant the world to me.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, about 38,777 people lost their lives due to gun violence in 2025, With 14,687 being Murder/Homicide, 408 mass shootings and 226 being children. The impact resonates across communities, leaving behind trauma that spans generations and leaves families shattered. This is not the nation we aspire to be. We must take concrete steps to address this crisis head-on.

The devastation of gun violence extends far beyond statistics. It’s about the loved ones we lose, the laughter we’ll never hear again, and the empty seats at the dinner table. Let’s ensure my brother did not die in vain, and no more dreams are prematurely shattered.
