WE WANT DECA ONTARIO PROVINCIALS TO TAKE PLACE!!! End Education Cuts in Ontario

The Issue

DECA Ontario Provincials hosts over 7000 high school business leaders in Downtown, Toronto during February. Students compete in a leadership and business conference for a chance to attend the International Career Development Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. However, the ongoing labour negotiations threaten all of this.

DECA, hosting the largest and most exciting business conferences for students across the country, could cease to exist as teachers walk off the job this week.

Education cuts affect everyone, but most of all, they affect students across the province. In Ontario, the first stage of Work to Rule begins this week. Hundreds of Teachers will be walking off the job on Wednesday, with the second and third stages of work to rule subsequently getting more severe. In addition to the loss of extracurriculars, if the cuts are not challenged, there may be english/math classes of up to 40 students, loss of specialized programs (gifted, alternative ed., etc.), and the introduction of mandatory four online courses.
