WEEKEND's Chris New to replace Matt Smith as the new Doctor Who
The Issue
We think Chris New would be the best choice to play the next Doctor in the BBC series, Doctor Who because Chris is an up and coming actor who holds an important place in many people's hearts.
In 2011, Chris starred in the feature film WEEKEND, which has since gone on to become one of the biggest and most successful independent British films of the past decade. In addition, the film has set a precedence showing what could be made on a limited budget. Since its release, WEEKEND has gained a large fan base; people who quote the script and buy all the memorabilia (much like the fans of Doctor Who).
Due to the success of WEEKEND, both Chris New and Tom Cullen have become well-loved stars, leading Tom to gain a role in ITV's DOWNTON ABBEY. Chris' fan base have made themselves known, follow him on all his projects and they are an active fan community. This is why we think Chris New would be the perfect Doctor, due to the overwhelming strong group of people who would support this choice.
We also believe that Chris will be a great decision because both women and men will be able to relate to him. Since Doctor Who returned, it has been at the forefront for finding the boundaries on primetime BBC television and we think that by making this choice, audiences will find something relatable about this new potential Doctor. Furthermore, Doctor Who helped the careers of David Tennant and Matt Smith tenfold, we think that by hiring Chris New, the show will help him gain the publicity he truly deserves.
Here is where things get technical; unless Chris becomes the next Doctor, we will unfortunately have to withdraw WEEKEND from shops and online. We will have to photoshop Chris from all posters and postcards of the film and re-edit the film, replacing Chris with British actor, Danny Dyer. We know this will hurt and upset a lot of people - but there is a very simple solution - BBC, when Matt Smith hangs up bow tie, hire Chris New as the next Doctor.
