Damian Lillard has been a generational star for the Trailblazers. But he can't win a ring in Portland. He was Rookie of the Year after Portland drafted him. He made the All-Star Team six times. And he lead the Trailblazers to the Western Conference Finals in 2018-19. But unfortunately, the team’s front office has not been able to put together a complimentary team to match Dame’s talent. And it doesn’t look likely they will be able to accomplish that task before Lillard’s time is up in the NBA.

The best thing to do in this situation is for the Blazers to trade Damian to a team with a chance to go to the finals. It’s the least they could do to thank Damian Lillard for his years of service to the team. It will be good for Damian, it will look good for the front office, and ultimately, it will be good for Portland. It’s time to let Damian go his own way and achieve the best he can. We owe it to him. 

This will be great for the Portland Trail Blazers. It will signal to players that Portland is player-focused. It will signal that they are willing to empower their star after years of generous service to the community—and the franchise. Damian is at the peak of his powers, he will get great trade offers from interested teams. Portland will be able to start fresh with draft picks and quality players. It's a win-win for everyone. 

We love Portland, we love the Trail Blazers, and we love Damian Lillard. It's time to let our favorite basketball player spread his wings and fly. Set him free.
