reverse nose-goes
The Issue
Whenever assigning a task nobody wants to do, the responsibility often gets shifted among the people in the group. A common solution is to ‘play’ a game proclaimed ‘nose-goes’ this is a game in which somebody starts the game by either saying “nose-goes” and subsequently touching their nose, or by silently just doing the latter. It is the responsibility of the group of people to mimic this behavior by also touching their nose, and whoever is the last to touch their nose is the one to have to do the task that nobody wanted to do. This is a clever solution to a problem, but the issue is in the person who starts the game. The person to start the game is automatically exempt from the task, and that’s how the game is inherently unfair. The person stuck with the job often feels singled out, and confused, and they have no choice but to conform when the whole group has decided them to do the task. We can take this group superiority by using democracy in our favor by spinning the recipient of the game as the person who started it. If someone was to start the game, it would just take everyone to mutually agree that because they tried to force the job upon someone else, that they should have to face the burden of the task themselves. This will hopefully reduce the amount of nose-goes games that are played, and also to catalyze the karma of the situation.
