The People of Tigray & The People of Eritrea Reject Any Alliance Between TPLF-D & PFDJ

The People of Tigray & The People of Eritrea Reject Any Alliance Between TPLF-D & PFDJ
The Issue
📜 Petition: The People of Tigray & The People of Eritrea Reject Any Alliance Between TPLF-D and Eritrean Shaebia (PFDJ)
To:
• The Interim Administration of Tigray
• The African Union (AU) and Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD)
• The Federal Government of Ethiopia
• International Partners of the Pretoria Peace Agreement
• The United Nations Human Rights Council
• The People of Tigray, both at home and in the diaspora
We, the undersigned sons and daughters of Tigray — along with our allies in the Eritrean diaspora, including members of the Brigade N’Hamedu — declare the following:
In light of recent reports indicating covert or overt attempts to forge a political or military alliance between the TPLF-Debretsion faction (#TPLF-D) and Eritrean Shaebia (#PFDJ)— the very regime that waged war on Tigray and committed heinous atrocities against our people — we express our unequivocal rejection of any such alliance.
🛑 Why We Reject the TPLF-D and Shaebia Alliance #PFDJ
1. Historical Betrayal and War Crimes
The Eritrean regime, under Isaias Afwerki, invaded Tigray in November 2020 alongside the Ethiopian federal army. Together, they perpetrated mass killings, rape, looting, and the destruction of cultural and religious institutions. Aligning with Shaebia is a betrayal of our martyrs, survivors, and our collective memory.
2. No Mandate from the People
The TPLF-D faction does not possess a democratic or moral mandate to enter into any alliance on behalf of the Tigrayan people. Any such action, taken without public dialogue and institutional legitimacy, is illegitimate and unacceptable.
3. Violation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement
This proposed alliance contradicts the spirit and purpose of the 2022 Pretoria Agreement, which aimed to bring sustainable peace and healing to Tigray. Such a partnership risks reigniting hostilities and undoing the progress made toward recovery and reconciliation.
4. Moral and Political Incompatibility
Tigray’s values are rooted in dignity, justice, self-determination, and accountability. Shaebia represents authoritarianism, repression, and regional destabilization. Entering into any form of partnership with this regime is morally indefensible and politically destructive.
5. Risk of Renewed Conflict
This unholy alliance signals a potential move toward rearmament and renewed conflict—something the people of Tigray firmly reject. We are still healing from the devastation of war. Our future must be rooted in peace, not in reckless political ambition.
✊ Our Demands
1. Immediate Public Clarification
We demand an official, public declaration from both the TPLF-D faction and the Tigray Interim Administration rejecting any alliance with PFDJ.
2. Inclusive Political Transition
We call for an inclusive, democratic political process in Tigray—one that reflects the will of the people and rejects backroom dealings by unaccountable factions.
3. International Oversight
We urge the African Union, the United Nations, and other international guarantors of the Pretoria Agreement to investigate and prevent any political or military maneuver that endangers peace in Tigray.
4. Diaspora Mobilization
We call upon the global Tigrayan and Eritrean diaspora communities to organize peaceful demonstrations, media advocacy, and diplomatic outreach to expose and oppose this alliance.
