Some years ago Facebook bought out Instagram and caused it to become a ‘market media’. This change caused meme pages and other pages that use to post good wholesome content to start taking advertisement money to post certain things. A large majority of these pages advertise for the ever so booming onlyfans trend. There are tons of children of all ages on Instagram who follow these pages which advertise girls and their onlyfans accounts. These same pages also post video game and cartoon related content targeting children and teenagers which is so wrong. For those who do not know what an onlyfans is, it is a “social media” platform that is basically just a porn website. Girls (and guys) make accounts and post sexually explicit images and videos and are able to charge per image/video and also charge a monthly subscription. Platforms such as Facebook and Instagram have guidelines against posting inappropriate/ derogatory/ and explicit content yet do nothing to these pages all in the name of capitalism. Money rules the world and sex sells but doesn’t mean it needs to be incorporated into platforms that people use to stay connected with family and friends. Instagram for example use to be a joyful platform where you can follow who you want and see what they post, a good way to keep up with memories from the past, see what friends and family are up to, etc... then came meme pages. Meme pages posted funny images and videos and people would follow them to see these images and videos so they could send them to their friends and family and have a good laugh. Nowadays these meme pages have been bought out and are used like a billboard for the next up and coming pornstar by posting explicit images and videos for girls to advertise their onlyfans. Many pages may be ‘private’ pages and say ‘18+’ in their bio’s yet accept anyone and everyone as a follower regardless of their age. Anyone under the age of 18 does not need to see these ads for females selling their body’s over the internet. Also many people over the age of 18 do not desire to see such content on a platform that is suppose to be social, not sexual. So please help me with a future lawsuit by signing this petition and let’s get this sexual solicitation banned from ‘social’ platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.
