This semester at Forest Grove High School, eligible students were flocking to be moved into her English classes. The word was out around the community of students of her lighthearted manner of teaching whilst maintaining an effective teaching style. No respected, caring, professional of our community deserves to be verbally put down—especially because of their race. Together, as a community, it is our civic duty to show it's unacceptable for racial slurs to be used. I encourage not only our school (of Forest Grove High School), but all those whom feel bothered by the fact a favorable teacher is being bullied into leaving, to show their support. Change never occurs without people coming together for organized disobedience. We are protesting: the need for the individual student being referenced as openly using the N-Word (as a form of harassment towards the teacher) to face the appropriate consequences—expulsion from the school district, the inability for the school to prohibit the use of racial slurs when it is heard by staff and said numerously by some students, but most of all, to show our support for all respected members of our community without prejudice for background such as race/ethnicity. We must come together to show solidarity and respect for the people of our community. Spread the message of support and acceptance by using the hashtag "#standupfg" on social media.
