Acumen Community Buildings has been running The Old Rectory in Houghton-le-Spring since 2017, making a difference in the Coalfield communities of Sunderland.

The Old Rectory is an iconic Grade II* listed building in Houghton-Le-Spring. As a thriving community hub for the North-East, we offer co-working and office space for charities and social enterprises, events space and a range of community activities, groups and classes.

Our beautiful building is at the heart of the local community and every day we make a difference in the lives of people in our community, whether this be challenging social isolation at our Gilpin's Open House or nurturing our next generation through our youth provision.

The Old Rectory also leads some of the biggest events in the Sunderland Coalfields area including The Big Lunch, Heritage Open Days and the historical Houghton Feast Parade.
