As you’re all aware, Thursday is Primary Day in New York State.
As you are also aware, SOTZ is a non-partisan not-for-profit group that seeks to restore the historic name of the Tappan Zee Bridge.
As such, we refrain from endorsing political candidates.
However, two notes about both Marc Molinaro and Cynthia Nixon:
1) Those of us who are registered Republicans should know that the GOP candidate for Governor, Marc Molinaro, is on record as favoring restoration of the TZ name, and has even declared he’d make an executive order returning the bridge name on day one if elected. He is running unopposed in the Republican primary.
2) Those of us who are registered Democrats will also be interested in this morning’s statement (below) from Cynthia Nixon, directly sent to us, and she mentions YOU. She, too, has now gone on record supporting SOTZ’s position on the TZ name. (And attached is a photo of SOTZ exec director pushing the SOTZ agenda with Cynthia at her rally yesterday in Mount Vernon! Special thanks to VP Cherish Pratt for doing the same at the press conference in Tarrytown.)
While it seems clear that Marc Molinaro will be the Republican candidate for governor, it's still quite up in the air who will represent the Democrats: Andrew Cuomo or Cynthia Nixon? So to all you registered democrats, please make your voices heard THIS THURSDAY, and vote for the candidate you think will best preserve the Tappan Zee name! Cynthia Nixon's position on the issue is copied for you below.
Sincerely,
Dr. Monroe Mann, PhD, Esq, MBA, LLM, ME
& the SOTZ Team

EMAIL STATEMENT FROM CYNTHIA NIXON:
First, I want to commend you all [at Save Our Tappan Zee] for organizing around this issue. Most of the media woke up to the serious problems with this infrastructure project over the weekend, but you all were fighting for accountability long before that. Thank you.
As Governor, I would support your proposed compromise - naming the new bridge The Mario M. Cuomo / Tappan Zee Bridge, while making no changes to the wording of existing signage.
I believe Mario Cuomo was a great governor, and he deserves something named after him - but we can honor his accomplishments, without erasing someone else's.
If you have any other questions about my campaign, specifically my plans regarding infrastructure or any other issues areas, I encourage you to visit www.cynthiafornewyork.com Please remember to vote on Thursday, September 13th.
Thank you,
Cynthia
