Hello Team Tappan Zee! It seems like most of the naysayers and critics have disappeared--thanks to all those who defended me (and continue to defend me) on the petition. Yesterday, we surpassed our goal of $2,500. Great work! Thank you to all who chipped in--your contributions really are making a difference. Let's try to reach $3,500 today. I know we can do it. Some of you are pointing out that it's possible that many signers 'signed' and then left the website, and do not receive email notices of updates. I have set up another interview next week with a state-wide television station, and I plan to go public then with the fundraising initiative. If you haven't yet, please consider donating even $5. That's not my intention. I have better things to do. It's to a) bring more attention to the cause, b) recognize the Tappan Indians and Dutch, and c) to comply with IRS requirements that a 501(c)(3) does not engage in an overabundance of lobbying. Having a museum and general historic preservation as our mission will keep us off the crosshairs of the IRS compliance division.
