$2,700 Raised. Will you help us reach $3,500 today?
Dec 2, 2017 — Hello Team Tappan Zee!
It seems like most of the naysayers and critics have disappeared--thanks to all those who defended me (and continue to defend me) on the petition.
Yesterday, we surpassed our goal of $2,500. Great work! Thank you to all who chipped in--your contributions really are making a difference.
Let's try to reach $3,500 today. I know we can do it.
Some of you are pointing out that it's possible that many signers 'signed' and then left the website, and do not receive email notices of updates. If so, once more people DO learn of the fund-raising drive, it's possible that they will chip in. How will they find out? Through the media. I have set up another interview next week with a state-wide television station, and I plan to go public then with the fundraising initiative.
If you haven't yet, please consider donating even $5. Our mission today is $3,500. Many people have donated just $5, and look how much we've raised so far. There is strength in numbers, and I know with your help we can reach $3,500 by tonight. Remember: I have not touched any of the money yet, and will not, until it's clear that there is enough support for this. If there is not enough support, I will refund everyone's money in full, including those who are sending checks.
Please read about my proposal and make your donation here: www.GoFundMe.com/SaveTheTappanZee

P.S. - Regarding the museum, I have no 'desire' to be the curator of a museum. That's not my intention. I have better things to do. It's to a) bring more attention to the cause, b) recognize the Tappan Indians and Dutch, and c) to comply with IRS requirements that a 501(c)(3) does not engage in an overabundance of lobbying. Having a museum and general historic preservation as our mission will keep us off the crosshairs of the IRS compliance division.
