Greetings once again Tappan Zee-ers! Incredibly, we jumped from 9,500 last night to 15,000 today. In less than 24 hours. A jump of more than 5,000 signatures in a day! Why? Because amazing people like you continue to spread the word to your friends, families, and coworkers. Some bits of history: * the original bridge began construction in 1952. It was completed in 1955. * the original bridge was named the Tappan Zee Bridge. It was meant only as a tribute to the Tappan Indians and the Dutch. * it was only in 1994 when the bridge changed, prepending the name of Governor Wilson. The official name became the Governor Malcolm Wilson Tappan Zee Bridge. But only the last part was ever used, so the name remained the Tappan Zee Bridge * in 2017 the NY Legislature totally ditched the name “Tappan Zee Bridge” and the bridge is now officially known as the Cuomo Bridge. It’s a potential sad end to a storied history. But... it doesn’t have to be the end! Please help us reach 25,000 signatures by Friday! NOTE: I have a letter ready to send to the Journal News once we reach 30,000 signatures. We will get there very soon... with your help. Your signature alone is not enough: share this petition far and wide! Thanks for your support! Let’s get our bridge back! -Dr. Monroe Mann, PhD, Esq, MBA
