The new minimum eligibility age for NEET-UG is an obstacle to the youth's future

The Issue

Although you may think that this doesn't affect your future but it does since you do want good doctors in future who are well experienced. The new minimum eligible age for NEET-UG was announced on June 9, 2023, stating that to be eligible for NEET, aspirants should have completed their 17th year of age on or before January 31st of the year in which they are giving their NEET exam. The earlier eligibility criteria were that they should have completed their 17th year of age on or before December 31st of the year in which they will be giving their NEET exam. This new situation is stopping the young generation from achieving their goals by making them wait for a minimum of one year just because they were born a month or two late, or maybe even six months late, but that's not what matters. What matters is that they have completed their 12th grade with the eligible percentage required for NEET. What matters is that the child has put in the same effort as any other aspirant and is as good as any other aspirant. This new minimum age criterion is not understood by many students, parents, and teachers since the rule doesn't make any sense. Many students are at least a year ahead in contrast to their academic grades, and there are states such as Delhi that have a rule like if your child is born in Delhi and in March, then your child is eligible for getting admission to school by a year early. Many students are giving the NEET exam early, but only after clearing the 12th boards and still have to wait a year now. There is also this one new rule that states that there is no upper age limit for NEET, allowing any person in any age category to appear for the exam. Although there is no such rule that stops the elderly from learning, this new criterion just makes the situation worse. Since our youth are our future, they should be given maximum chances. It doesn't matter whose chances are taken away; what matters is that our youth have all the opportunities they need. The rule is absurd and has no sense, and I need each one of us, if needed, to sign this petition and help me give our youths the right they deserve and let their future accelerate at the same speed as it was before this. We intend to give the students the rights they had and deserve. This is the only and right time to act.

Sign this petition and help me change this rule to the original rule or to get rid of the minimum age criteria and replace it with a new rule stating that any 12th-grade science graduate with at least 50% in boards can appear for NEET-UG.
