Save the historic chapel!

The Issue

It doesn't look like much in the photo but the chapel is nearly 150 years old. It has survived two world wars, multiple depressions, fire, theft and catastrophe only to finally face demolition.

The Chapel is a stones throw away from a national park and one of the most beautiful and visited parts of the English countryside. The Chapel grounds (though currently overgrown) contain a mature fruit orchard and what was once a green space that played a major role in the lives of generations of people and countless native species. Weddings, memorials, dancing, wartime allotments, people cared about and needed this space. They need it still.

As you can see, the chapel (along with many other heritage buildings on the town's front street) has slid into dereliction and is in a very sorry state.

But it could be saved!, restored and used to benefit the local community and the environment for future generations. If we do nothing the chapel & orchard will probably be demolished to make way for a car park, roundabout and access road.

We risk losing an important part of our community and heritage due to the actions of two individuals, but you can help us fight back by signing this petition.

Please help us try to create a better solution than demolition and concrete.

You can help us save it by signing this petition but also by publicising it on social media.
