

Include domestic workers in the COIDA in South Africa
The Issue
We the undersigned, commend the Minister of Employment and Labour in South Africa to introduce the Compensation of Injuries & diseases (COIDA) amendment bill in the Parliament on Thursday 10 September to include domestic workers in the protection.
As a matter of urgency under the pandemic, we demand that the Minister of Department of Employment and Labour, and the Parliamentary Committee on Employment and Labour to:
-Finalize the legislative processes of amending the Compensation for Occupational Injury and Disease Act, 130 of 1993,as soon as possible to include domestic workers employed in private households.
-Ensure that the inclusion must have a retrospective effect.
