The Minister for the Environment - koalas need protection, not logging.
Former Environment Minister Parker said on 27th October 2011 that logging is good for koalas. The reality is that logging now threatens the last koala population on the far south coast and must be stopped for the sake of this much loved animal.

I just signed the following petition addressed to: Mr Rob Stokes MP, NSW Minister for the Environment.
Minister Parker, logging and koalas don’t mix.
Destroying koala habitat destroys koalas. Koalas in NSW are threatened and on the brink of extinction on the far south coast. The NSW Government must not risk the loss of this important and much loved animal. Logging alone was not responsible for its current dire situation, but intensive logging for woodchips has the potential to finish them off.
Almost all logging is now done by mechanical harvesters, with solid steel roofs. Rules require the logger to look up a tree for koalas before he cuts it down. This is impossible using a mechanical harvester.
Please stop logging in all koala habitat forest such as Mumbulla, Murrah, Yurammie, Tanja and Bermagui forest now.
