Oak Park currently has parking restrictions seven days a week from 2:30 AM-6:00 AM.  During this time period, if your car is parked on a residential street, you will be ticketed, but, you can "call" your car in three times a month, preventing you from getting a citation.  This regulation has been in effect since 1937, and it is time for a change.  Families with multiple cars, but only one garage.  Long term visitors, and the inconvenience of getting up while already settled in bed, just to park your car in the back.  These are situations that multiple families are affected by, and it is why Oak Park has had a law suit filed against them before, and several meeting regarding the unfair restriction of overnight parking bans.  If not "revoke", we want to restructure and modify the current parking situations to make everyone's life easier.  Parking permits and fines for overnight parking account for less than 1% of the villages revenue as stated in the 2016 quarterly revenue report.  This is an inconvenient law in place, and it violates the serenity of mind by causing stress and more issues, especially in a time of crisis like right now.  The overnight parking ban has been on the verge of being removed for quite some time, and with our first amendment rights, we can bring change once and for all to this arduous rule.  Please sign this petition and spread it to improve all of Oak Parks citizens quality of life, and make the village aware of our exasperation.
