I would ask you to support this petition to assist the dog owners at Valla Beach to exercise their dogs off lease responsibly. Although Valla Beach has two designated sand beach Off Leash Areas for dogs it does not have any designated Off Leash Areas that are flat, grassed land area for owners to exercise their dogs. A flat grassed area is badly needed as many elderly owners find it difficult to physically negotiate beach areas to exercise their dogs off leash. Other dog owners have been advised by local vets not to use sandy areas to exercise their dogs as it is harmful to the ligament joints in the dog. Designating the Valla Reserve area as off leash will also assist holiday makers with dogs and tourist park residents in having the use of an exercise area very close to where they live. The only changes needed to the area would be a council sign advising dog owners of this new Off Leash Area. A Dog Waste Bag dispenser and a Red Dog Waste Bin are already available for use on the edge of the area.
