In today's fast-paced world, young individuals are increasingly finding themselves in a balancing act, caught between the demands of school and the responsibilities at home. This dual role, often dubbed "Double Duties," is not just about managing time, but about developing essential skills for life.

As a student, I have personally experienced the immense pressure of juggling school assignments while also meeting expectations at home. This dual responsibility has taught me the value of time management, prioritization, and resilience. However, it is not without its challenges, and many youths are struggling under the weight of these demands.

Several youths are not only students but also caregivers, helpers, and sometimes even breadwinners who have burdens much too heavy for them to carry. While schooling is meant to be a stepping stone to progress and potential, several young people are forced to divide their time and energy between school and what their lives demand of them at home. This heavy load oftentimes results in stress, fatigue, and poor school performance. Sadly, their sacrifices and silent loads are oftentimes not acknowledged by the public and even by the institutions tasked to assist them.

We, the undersigned, believe that these students are entitled to understanding, compassion, and material assistance. We implore schools, communities, and government units to recognize their real lives and act. This is achieved through creating flexible academic policies for students with familial obligations, provision of mental health and guidance services to assist them in coping with stress management, and enhancement of the awareness of teachers and students regarding the realities these youth go through daily. In addition, we urge institutions to establish financial and scholarship assistance programs for those who sustain their families while pursuing their education.
