The Ladder of Inequality: Climbing Through the Classes

The Issue

A ladder of inequality pervades our society, aptly named for the challenging climb upwards it presents to different social classes. Unfortunately, this is not a metaphor: our socio-economic landscape mirrors the uncertainty and hardship of ascending from one class to another.

People are not born equal, some are born with disabilities, some are born without families and some are born into poverty while others are born talented, wealthy, and powerful. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the number of people in the Philippines in 2023 reached 17.4 million Filipinos. The world is not an equal place, yet we always strive for equality to someday reach that threshold so that all of us can see each other on equal footing. Equality means to treat somebody the same regardless of their social status and a lot of groups are advocating equality among the Filipino People. The Amity Group is also one of those groups advocating for equality through their new subsidiaries: "Philanthropy through Amity" with one of its objectives being the equal treatment of everyone in a world full of Inequality.
