Racism stems back to the period of the Renaissance. As times have changed, social media has created a sense of beauty standards that includes racism and makes users feel as if they have to look a certain way to fit those beauty standards that have been made. There are many people that are seen as unfit because they don't fit these certain standards because of the fact that they come from different cultures and backgrounds. There are many underrepresented topics in the media which created the issue of lack of diversity. Social media has had a negative effect on society because there are many people who feel self-conscious with these standards that are set too high.
