Stop trying to rig the Labour leadership election

The Issue

In claiming that 'infiltrators' from the left and the conservative party are trying to hold sway in the labour leadership election, those running the vote are also barring people who genuinely want to see Labour succeed, genuine supporters including Mark Steel. I like many others have felt let down and disillusioned with the Labour party in recent years. In barring so many from the vote the Labour Party are at risk of further alienating supporters new and old. People have drifted away from Labour and looked into alternatives such as the Green party and Left Unity and TUSC because of Labour's failure to form a convincing opposition in the face of the false narrative repeated by the conservatives that public spending was to blame for the economic crisis whereas in fact it was the global banking crisis, and because of Labour's role in the war in Iraq and because of Labour's shift to the right and away from the values that represent the ordinary working folk of this country. There are many positives about the interest in the labour leadership vote such as new support, people coming back to the party because they see new hope. But instead there are genuine people being turned away. This in itself will do further damage to the prospects of the Labour Party. Please support the democratic process and stop trying to rig the vote!
