The Issue

Support Pollinator Highways – Restore Wildflowers on All Public Lands!

Who is impacted?
Pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds are vital to our food system, ecosystems, and biodiversity. However, habitat loss, pesticide exposure, and climate change have caused devastating declines in their populations. In the last year alone, U.S. beekeepers reported losing over 60% of their managed honeybee colonies—one of the highest losses on record. Native pollinators are also in serious decline, affecting farmers, beekeepers, and entire communities that depend on healthy ecosystems for food, clean air, and environmental stability. Without pollinators, our food supply and natural landscapes are at serious risk.

What is at stake?
If we do nothing, pollinator losses will continue at alarming rates, putting food production, biodiversity, and economic stability in jeopardy. Honey bees alone are responsible for pollinating one-third of the food we eat, and their survival is threatened by habitat destruction and harmful pesticide use. However, we have a massive opportunity to reverse this trend by transforming our state and federal lands—including highways, parks, grasslands, and conservation areas—into thriving pollinator habitats. By planting wildflowers, native grasses, and reducing pesticide use, we can create safe corridors for pollinators to thrive.

If we fail to act, continued habitat destruction and toxic pesticide exposure will push pollinators closer to collapse, impacting crops, wildlife, and the health of our environment. But if we act now, we can restore millions of acres of public land into pollinator-friendly landscapes, ensuring the survival of these essential species.

Why is now the time to act?
With pollinator losses reaching crisis levels, immediate action is necessary. Many states and organizations are already working to protect pollinators, but we must take this effort nationwide. We call on state and federal agencies to commit to planting native wildflowers and reducing harmful pesticide use on all public lands. These lands belong to everyone, and they should serve as safe havens for pollinators that sustain our environment.

By signing this petition, you are urging our leaders to take bold action in restoring pollinator habitats across highways, parks, and federal lands. Let’s lead the way in protecting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators before it’s too late!

Sign the petition and help us create a future where pollinators can thrive!
